The wonderful adventures of Alfred J. Kwak) released in 3 series from 1989 to 1991. The first quarter of text of the "Achter tralies" is taken from [[De wonderlijke avonturen van de eend Alfred Jodocus Kwak: Goedemorgen]], which was released in the same year. "Goedemorgen" was in turn a retelling of the story of the [[Alfred J. Kwak Episode 1|first episode]] and partially of the [[Alfred J. Kwak Episode 2|second episode]] of the [[Alfrd J. Kwak]] animated series. This book covers the second episode of the animated series and is accompanied with [[Alfred J. Kwak cels|cels]] from that production.

===Summary===
[[Johan Kwak]] and [[Anna van de Polder]], along with their [[Alfred's brothers and sisters|children]]—including [[Alfred Jodocus Kwak]]—have been forced to emigrate from their birthplace in [[Breed Rietland]] due to the construction of the [[Groot Speelgoedland|theme park]] on their land. Guiding them is [[Henk de Mol]], who offers the family shelter in his [[Alfred de Mol|grandfather's]] [[Henk's mine house|mine house]]. As they depart, a heavy storm rains down on the theme park's grand opening behind them. The group takes a break as the rainclouds have past on, leaving a [[wikipedia:rainbow|rainbow]] directly in their path to [[Groot Waterland]].

They sleep in a hollow tree, wake up, and all-apart from Henk-take a plunge into the water. As the border to Groot Waterland comes into sight, they see the final hurdle to pass over; a [[Car road|car road]]. However, Alfred is distracted chasing a [[Frog|frog]] and runs back the way they came. Henk goes after the duckling while the rest starts moving up the slope to the car road. A car doesn't see the family in time and Alfred's parents and siblings die in a traffic accident. Henk is angry and sad, but he swears to always take care of Alfred. 

A month passes and Alfred and Henk are living together in the mine house. Henk has been busy prepping the house for the arrival of Alfred's new friends celebrating his first month alive. Among the guests is [[Pikkie de Ekster]] who is enchanted by a [[Shiny key|shiny key]] dangling around the neck of one of the [[Sparrow triplet|sparrow triplets]]. He steals it and accidentally swallows it. Henk gives him a good slap on the back and Pikkie regurgitates it. 

A bus arrives at the mine house and Henk announces to the group that they're going to [[The King's castle|the King's castle]] for Alfred's party. The group boards the bus and they travel to the King's castle. Meanwhile the King, [[Radbout de Derde]] is hunting in his [[The King's hunting forest|hunting forest]] avoiding the tourists. 

Having arrived at the castle, the group gets a tour by [[Jonkheer Koen van Kalepoen]]. He takes them to see the cooks [[Do, Re and Mi Lano]] hard at work in the kitchen, the dungeons of the castle, and finally the treasury, which contains a shiny red ruby, the crown jewel. As the group leaves, Pikkie finds a way to stay in the treasury.

Not long after the alarm sounds; the crown jewel has been stolen. In the chaos Alfred tries to find where Pikkie is, who is missing from the group. Meanwhile, Pikkie is rolling the ruby on the edge of a wall high up, but accidentally rolls the ruby over the edge and it lands squarely on top of Alfred's head. He falls unconscious and when he wakes he's surrounded by [[The King's soldiers|the King's soldiers]]. He's chained to a large steel ball and thrown into the dungeons. Henk tries to call out for Alfred's innocence, but the evidence seems conclusive.
