A substantial part of the adventures of Alfred Jodocus Kwak are told through books, rather than through the animated series or the theater plays. Many episodes of the animated series have also been retold in this medium. The franchise even began as an idea for a picture book when Annet Kossen and Herman van Veen started considering a partnership.[1][2][3] Books for Alfred J. Kwak are still being produced to this day, even decades after the series was on television, in various languages.
