"De Eieren" (lit: The Eggs) or "アルフレッド誕生" (Arufureddo tanjō; lit: Alfred's birth) Is the first episode of Alfred J. Kwak's first season. The episode first aired in Japan on TV Tokyo on 3 April 1989 in the Monday 17:00 - 17:30 slot.
The sun dawns on Breed Rietland. Bees are starting to pollenate the flowers, it's spring. A jet plane flies over as Henk de Mol comes up from his mole hill. He checks the time and laments that Johan Kwak is late for their meeting again. Meanwhile, Johan is running to make his appointment with Henk and almost gets run over while crossing the road. He arrives at the wrong tree and starts calling out for Henk, but Henk calls him over from under the willow they actually had agreed to meet under. Henk scolds Johan for being late, but then pivots and says he's happy to see Johan keep to his promises.
Johan praises the spring and predicts that this year something extraordinary will happen. Henk will ask if he's planning anything this year, and when Johan says he hasn't, Henk asks him if he doesn't want to get married to someone this year. Johan dismisses the idea as he believes he's too young. Then he hears the song of Anna van de Polder who is picking flowers. Henk introduces Johan to Anna. Johan can't keep his nerves around her and speaks incoherently. Before he completely melts he says goodbye and runs away, not knowing what to say. He stops and sits down in the middle of a pasture and starts dreaming about Anna. Around him, without him noticing, two heron surveyors. Stip and Stap try to measure up the pasture.
The next morning, Johan waskes up and takes a dip. As he hears Anna singing in the distance he proceeds to walk over to her, only to immediately track back to the river to clean himself and to brush his teeth. When he reaches Anna another duck has started a one-sided conversation with Anna about tennis. Another duck on a motor cycle approaches and tries to impress Anna with his loops around them. The first duck removes the key from the motor cycle as the second duck comes to a standstill, but this starts a brawl between the two. Anna walks away from them and Johan approaches.

Jan van de Polder (Anna's father, Anna is his youngest daughter).
In the original outline written by Herman van Veen, the episode ends right after Alfred's family was run over by a car.[4] This was later changed to happen in Episode 2. There are many minor changes between the original script and the final episode, but the biggest changes include:

For this episode 21 characters (including all Alfred's brothers and sisters were designed by Harald Siepermann and Hans Bacher, based on the script outline by Herman van Veen. Several other characters appear, for example Dolf's mother, but her Character model sheet is labelled as Episode 5 and 6, even though she does not appear in those. Other characters not included in designs specifically linked to this episode are Willem Bij and his family who appear in the second cut of the episode. They were originally designed for Episodes 7 and 22.
Also a character design for a young Hannibal Nijlpaard appears in the original line up, who at some stage of the production might've been part of the story. Character model sheets for Big, Hannes and Wannes are also linked to this episode (as they are linked to episodes 1-6), but do not appear in the episode, nor in the line up.
Characters designed for this episode were drawn primarily in March through August of 1988, with Alfred's design as a small child designed last.[5]
