Summary

The DVD box's back cover blurb:

Translation

Alfred J. Kwak is a lively and musical orphan duck, that the mole Henk has taken into his care. Alfred, the Don Quijote of the animal world, takes responsibility for the world around him and fights tirelessly with his friends for a better world. With the performances of the series, Alfred has fought and is fighting his way into the hearts of us viewers as well.

The series brings out social and political themes in an exceptional way, such as racial discrimination, whaling, the situation in the Middle East, poverty in third countries and environmental problems.

As the series progresses, the changes in society and the environment mirror Alfred's growth from a fragile egg into a full-grown duck.

About the transfer

Notes

  1. ↑ The back of the cover insert and the disc labels carry the DVD region 2 mark, which is technically inaccurate: the discs are effectively region-free, as their region mask (0x40) blocks only region 7, a reserved region used for MPA/pre-release media copies that no commercial release uses. Region coding will not prevent playback in any commercial player; the correct mark would have been 0/ALL.
  2. ↑ Mono content presented as dual-mono: both channels carry the same mono track.
  3. ↑ Also referred to as Alfred J. Kwak Box (4-disc) and Alfred J. Kwak - 1.kausi [4-disc] (lit: Alfred J. Kwak - 1.season [4-disc]) in PAN Vision's product list webpage from February to September of 2009 respectively.
  4. ↑ Pankka is a nonce word coined to rhyme with ankka ("duck"), while myyränpoika ("son of a mole") mocks Alfred for being raised by Henk the Mole. The three words together form a sing-song taunt.
